Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire Mk Vb

Post by ArcEye » Sun Oct 13, 2024 12:29 am

Here we have Tamiyas 1/48 scale Spitfire Mk Vb. The montex markings sheet said it's the aircraft of Wing Commander Stefan Witozenc of No 302 squadron based at Croydon in early July 1942. A couple of sources I found online state that he never actually flew with 302 Squadron so it's not his plane but in the end I just liked the markings so went ahead anyway. These markings were applied for Operation Rutter but a lot of people think of them as Operation Jubilee markings although sources conflict on whether they were still in use for Operation Jubilee.

I used Montex masks for the markings, Ak real colour paints and the Tamiya Stencils. The white stripes looked a bit to uniform when I airbrushed them but luckily the chipping fluid lifted some of the Camo with the masking tape so I had to retouch that and it made them look quite Authentic imo.

The man is a machine that turns unbuilt kits into built kits.
