P-47 project

Post by Tex » Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:51 pm

I usually make a model over the Christmas break. Only time I seem to have to myself lately. This year, decided to build a model of the P-47 I am currently flying in game with the 335th. I have been making my own masks for markings for a while and the stars and bars and letter codes were not too challenging. Still learning how to line them up properly. But, I like the result.
Also first time using AK paints. I like them even though they go on with a bit of gloss. Nothing that a coat of flat later will not fix.
So, here are some progress shots for fun.
(I've been boring the 335th discord channel with this too.)

I am still trying to figure out how to do the nose art, but have finished the P-47 otherwise. I used a new form of salt weathering and some pigment powders to get the subtle worn look I wanted. Does not photograph too well though.
