Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
Muddy
I did take the time to set up, I set it up last weekend, tested it on Combatbox. I tested it on our server Wednesday night and checked all my settings again before the mission.
I have Text to Speech set up.
I just don't like SRS,
I was asked to provide feedback, I've given it. I think TS is much better.
And do me a favor don't tell me my feedback is not valid just because you don't happen to agree!!!

SRS worked quite well though I am used to it from CB. Comms sounded great and the characteristics added to make it sound more authentic also paid off. All in all, for Eagle flight and my perspective, it worked well.
FYI, if you want to "hear" it in action, check out the Twitch stream video found here (only voice that sounds 2024 is mine ):

Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
For first go it went well, but I agree with Dubsy there. We need a Discord set up with voice activation/ permissions.
Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
You want that RAF briefing room only or all Squadron channels. We mirrored the setup from TS on that. Not a bit change to leave voice activation on, just means your guys need to use the shortcut to mute once in game.

Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
Found it essentially the same/better than using TS, and am happy that i dont have to listen to that goddamned “pssst” anymore. first mission with it went quite well for us and had no issues really.

Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
Overall- My view on SRS for this mission is very positive. We all knew it would be messy since it's the first mission. We had plenty of time and resources available for everyone to get it set up, but of course there will always be people who don't set it up and test it until the last moment. I've already used SRS on combat box a lot, and over the past few days I've helped a few ACG members troubleshoot their issues with it. Moving forward, I would be willing to take on a "tech support" role for SRS if needed. We may also want to consider making a tutorial video for installation and use of SRS?
Apart from some users having technical issues not sorted out in time, the only downside in my view is that you only get into the correct channel once you actually spawn in. So this means that discord VC is necessary to use for pre and post-flight comms. We used to use teamspeak to call out when we were ready to spawn, and then to spawn in the correct order. Today we tried to use SRS for this, but it didn't work very well, because anyone who hadn't spawned yet was in the spectator channels, and as soon as you do spawn, it puts you into a separated channel from anyone who hasn't spawned yet. The solution to this is to use discord comms until everyone is spawned in, but then the downside is that you need to use 2 VCs instead of one.
I also manned the radar for shift 2. It was my first time doing radar, so special thanks to Ocelot for giving me radar training. Overall this went very well, and I had no problem using SRS for this. Actually I think I prefer SRS, because I don't have to bother figuring out TS whispers and setting all that up. The only downside to note is that, since we're using a system where 1 person mans the radar for both sides, you have to spawn an aircraft every time you want to switch to the opposite side's SRS channels. You can then despawn the aircraft and freely switch between both sides, and you won't change sides on SRS until you spawn another aircraft.

Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
SRS and Discord is fine for missions, but not every one was able to get it going smoothly for various equipment reasons. The fooling around trying to get it working for one pilot resulted in me not having comms with that pilot.
We just need to find a way to spawn in without all of us (RAF/LW) being on same comms in the neutral lobby, especially first shift. Perhaps there needs to be a strict stagger time.
Is it possible to start SRS after we are spawned?

Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
PTT is enforced in Discord right now like it is on Teamspeak, I think it might get convoluted if we disable it? Maybe for the sqaudron channels?
There was so much cheese in my pocket, they thought I was a fucking calzone!
