Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
From my end the SRS comms worked a treat , in VR with the text to speech switched on I had no issues swapping channels and all sounded great. Thumbs up from me.

Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
I fully agree. I was pointing out that people still didn’t seem to do that. But even then, the fact I did it an hour before and had it working left me wondering why the issues were present at all.Steel wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 8:58 pm@Firefly, personally I disagree with the "mad dash" and little time to prepare, from the announcement of this test there has been 5 weeks to prepare and just shy of 3 weeks since the instructions were posted for everyone to see AND after 2 workshops were hosted by volunteers to help people set it up.
There was a fair bit of arguing in the week leading up to last nights’ mission.
Adding onto my previous, having flown the second stint, I am feeling a lot more confident with it. There’s the issue that I couldn’t get a word in edge-ways because everybody was talking at once, but that was also an issue on TS so not SRS-related there.
The radio FX for me are pretty poor. Having had radio FX on team speak in the past, I don’t think they are “realistic”. I’ll keep the box ticked for now and see if it sounds any different (somehow) next week, but it might end up being turned off for me - but that’s personal preference. Same with those annoying clicks to signify radio buttons being pressed.
As a replacement to TS, yeah. I can live with it. Which is the point.
Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
Hey all, responding to some of the general feedbacks from my side.
--Spectator comms and "SRS checks":
I agree that was a bit of a shock to the system, having everyone in the same place going nuts. I do still think we want to do an SRS check from the map screen - to avoid loading in and out of aircraft if there is some technical issues (maybe this is actually a non-issue?)
Possible solution is to assign spectate Channels to squadrons and staffels (we still have 15 channels available in that spectate).
This way.
-Load in to server.
-Switch to your assigned spectate channel.
-Squadron/Staffel SRS check to make sure it's working and everyone can hear you ECT.
-Coordinate spawn in via Discord comms.
-load in
-Mute discord once ingame.
-Check-in on your squadron channel.
--Regarding radio fx, suggest try switching "clipping effect" off, I personally switch that off also. It's an added layer of distortion that also doesn't sound quite right to me. Give it a try.
--Regarding discord channels
I agree PTT should be switched off in favour of voice activation. Alot of players seem to have bound discord PTT to the same as their SRS PTT, resulting in a lot of unintentional double transmissions (on discord and SRS). Also it's trivial to mute discord once ingame (and it means you still listen in on discord - server issues ECT. Can be communicated one way if required)
There will obviously be some growing pains, it would be naive to think otherwise. In my opinion it would benefit players to treat it as "radio" vs a "voice chat"..... It's a flight sim after all right? Radio is a big part of flying. Brush up on R/T practices and brevity. Respect priority of messages. Brief your check-in's.
After a few events, squadrons/staffels and players will quickly figure out what works for them and they way they play.

Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
In for a penny, in for a pound. I say ACG should press on with SRS. My experience was a bit more problematic than I had anticipated. But, Sods to the rescue! He got me through. A little more time to gain experience, and all will be good, for all.
As it was, my in-mission experience with SRS was quite satisfactory. As mentioned earlier, the text-to-speech feature was quite handy for this VR pilot. I gained confidence in changing channels by way of a joystick hat switch, soon to be committed to muscle memory.
Press on
Flyby out

Looking forward to use it more to se how it really works, and for 2-3 more mission we then should have a clear answer

It's growing on me.
There was so much cheese in my pocket, they thought I was a fucking calzone!
Re: SRS use for ACG - Feedback
Again the SRS worked well and with the new spawns also worked well with no issues and very smooth.
May today be better than yesterday, but, not as good as tomorrow.
