I had to laugh loud for that one - I now have this vision of Mr Magoo flying a Cessna

I'm glad you've taken the plunge on behalf of us all - after a discussion a few months ago the general consensus was "give it another generation or two" for flight simming. This generation seems like the "shit, this is amazing" moment. The next gen will be fine for your average gamer, with little reliance on minute detail, and the one after - well, that's for us people that like looking at tiny dials :joyman:

So in conclusion:

Current generation: good for porn
2nd generation: good for hitting shit, blowing shit up, and porn
3rd generation: good for detailed analysis of dials, and tiny dick porn

Apparently it was the porn industry that drove the rapid growth of the internet. I'm imaging 3D stuff now with an Oculus. :)

When you say 'imaging', what kind?

Doh! Typo... meant to say "imagining". Adds a whole different meaning doesn't it?!

Indeed - for a second there I thought you were building your own 3D porno  Brings a whole new (or is it?) meaning to your nick :D

i got the rift and my first sensation was wow. I definitely felt justified in getting it. i tried dcs and it is superb. It really felt like flying. The scale and depth of everything is amazing and the 3d cockpit comes to life, you see little details you never noticed before.

i have had to put it away till next week but I can't wait to try it again and especially to show other people.

My favourite experience has been the mustang. followed by the uh1. fast jets are a bit too fast so that it breaks the illusion a bit thanks to no simulation of g force.

I'd say try it if you can. it's great for the sensation of flying but I think it's not going to replace 2d flying for a long time. combat would lead to me feeling sick too quickly 5-10 mins max, visibility of contacts would be a challenge and the gauges can be read but the text isn't easy to read so it's not going to replace hardcore ifr navigation type flights. we are blessed with HD 30 inch screens.
